MUNDO DEPORTIVO |
What exactly happened I’m not entirely sure,
but Valencia leave Balaídos with three points after a 1-5 win. Paco Alcacer
opened the scoring with a neat finish before Celta struck back through an
Augusto header. Los Che took the lead again just before half time against the
run of play with a great free kick from Parejo. Jonny's error early on in the
second half gave Alcacer his second before Parejo and Mustafi rounded of the
scoring. You would be forgiven for thinking that this must have been a routine
win for Valencia; however that would be far from the truth.
There were three key events that ultimately
turned the tables in Valencia's favour. To begin, Daniel Wass' disallowed goal
whilst the score was level has to be looked back upon as a moment that changed
the game. The referee should have played advantage regardless of the foul on
Tucu. Secondly, Parejo's goal put Valencia in the ascendancy going into half
time. After a slow opening 15 minutes, Celta were in control of the game and
probably deserved to be in the lead. Finally, Jonny's uncharacteristic mistake
was a huge body blow and in principle ended our chances of a comeback. It gave
Valencia the opportunity to take advantage of our need to push players on in
search of a goal by playing in the vacated spaces on the counter attack.
Despite the obvious disappointment in the
result, there are positives to be taken. Overall we played pretty well and were
arguably the better team for the majority of the game, looking to seek the
initiative regardless of the situation. 5 shots on target resulting in 5 goals
signifies the injustice of the result. It's important that the scoreline does
not affect us going into the Galician Derby as we are more than capable of
leaving Riazor with 3 points if the player's confidence is 100%, as I’m sure it
will be.
Finally I feel that I must praise the fans for
their unconditional support towards the team. We all appreciate a team who
gives everything to the cause and with this current squad, dedication is not
something that is lacking. Seeing the fans at one with the players is a
source of great delight and something that we can be proud of. Afouteza,
Corazón, Orgullo e Tradición, this is what Real Club Celta de Vigo and her fans
represent.
Next match, the big one. It's Deportivo vs
Celta, Coruna vs Vigo, lunacy vs sense, Turcos vs Portugueses, it's the
Galician Derby. This is our time to show the rest of Spain and indeed the World
who is the true reference of Galician football. These are the games where
heroes are made, and where dreams come true. We have suffered our fair share of
pain over the years but now it's our time, our time to shine. ¡Nos somos o
Celtismo!
Best
regards and come on Celta!
¡Saludos y Hala Celta!
¡Saudos e Ala Celta!
